Why Music Lessons?

Life gets so busy, why invest the time and money into music lessons? Between hectic school schedules and your kid's long list of extra curricular activities, it's only natural to ask yourself that question. What you may not know is how beneficial it is for children to learn an instrument.

Many studies have proven that learning an instrument helps children academically. Math is one of the core subjects that it aids in. Music and math go hand in hand. When a child is counting rhythms he/she is actually using math skills like division, fractions, addition and more. We have personally worked with many students over the years whose math grades have drastically improved while taking lessons.

Other studies have shown that learning to read music also helps with vocabulary and reading in school age students. And if that's not enough, the study "Sorry, Kids, Piano Lessons Make You Smarter, which was published in Forbes Magazine actually showed that piano and voice lessons can make children smarter and increase their IQ!

The advantages to music lessons aren't just academically though, scientific research proves that music lessons motivate emotional and behavioral growth as well. A study posted in the Washington Post, Music Lessons Spur Emotional and Behavioral Growth in Children, had incredible results.

There are countless studies and research that you can read about. But scientific evidence aside, we can personally attest to the amazing results we have seen in our students. We have watched it aid in self-esteem, social skills, physical skills, concentration, discipline, patience, team work and much more. We cannot say enough about the importance of learning an instrument and what a valuable and rewarding experience it can be.
